Adolf Dallapozza - born 1940, Austrian tenor who began his career with the Vienna Volksoper, where his roles included Ernesto in Don Pasquale and Tony in the German premiere of Bernstein's West Side Story in 1968. By the time he retire in 2008 he had sung over 1800 performances of 74 roles. He also regularly sang for the Vienna Staatsoper where his roles included Rodolfo in La Boheme and Lensky in Eugene Onegin - 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm) autographed photo. £20

Barbara Daniels - born 1946, American soprano who built her career in Europe, making her Covent Garden debut in 1978 as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus. She eventually made her Met debut as Musetta, going on to sing the Marschalin, Puccini's Manon and Tosca, and the role for which she has become world-famous, Minnie in La Fanciulla del West - 5 x 3 inches (13 x 7.5 cm) autographed white card, signed: "For Snr. Also, 5 x 7 inches (13 x 18 cm) letter to a fan , dated 1935, which was originally sent with this postcard. Condition: letter has creases where it was originally folded twice, and has minor paper fragments on reverse where item has been stuck in album. Lisa Della Casa - 1919-2012, Swiss soprano who was best-known for her Richard Strauss roles. She sang Zdenka (Arabella) at Salzburg in 1947, returning the following year to sing the Countess (Capriccio). In 1953 she made her Covent Garden debut in the title role of Arabella, and in the same year made her Met debut as Mozart's Countess. She was much in demand throughout the world, and was much admired as Ariadne, Salome and the Marschallin, although in her younger days she was a fine Sophie and then Octavian - 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm) autographed record-company publicity card. Justino Diaz - born 1940, Puerto Rico-born American bass-baritone; he started his career with New England Opera Theater in 1961, and made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Monterone in 1963, returning to sing both bass and baritone roles. Karl Dönch - 1915-1994, Austrian bass-baritone and director. He sang with the Vienna Staatsoper, where his many roles included Rossini's Dr Bartolo and Beckmesser. Ann Drummond-Grant - 1905-1959, British (Scottish) soprano, later contralto. She sang with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, singing Celia (Iolanthe), Plaintiff, Josephine, Patience, Princess Ida, Gianetta, Phyllis, Elsie Maynard and Aline (The Sorcerer), even though some considered her taller than was ideal for these roles. In 1940 she married Isadore Godfrey, the Musical Director of the D'Oyly Carte, and returned to the company in 1950 as a contralto, singing The Fairy Queen, Katisha, Dame Hannah, Dame Carruthers and the Duchess of Plaza-Toro - 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm) autographed photo, showing her as Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance, signed: "All good wishes, Ann Drummond-Grant". Martine Dupuy - born 1952, French mezzo-soprano, particularly good in bel-canto trouser-roles such as Bellini's Romeo and Handel's Julius Caesar; she made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Handel's Sextus. At La Scala in 1992 she sang Malcolm in La Donna del Lago. Clara Ebers - 1902-1997, German soprano. From 1928-1944 she sang with Frankfurt Opera, where at first her roles included Olympia, Susanna, Gilda, Despina and Zerbinetta, later singing heavier roles including Fiordiligi, Donna Anna, Violetta and Elizabeth (Don Carlos). Trude Eipperle - 1908-1997, German soprano. She appeared in most of the major German and Austrian opera houses, particularly Nuremberg, Cologne and her native Stuttgart. Brent Ellis - born 1944, American baritone; particularly noted for his fine acting. Early on he sang lyric roles such as Marcello and Don Giovanni, more recently specialising in Verdi roles such as Ford, Rigoletto, Macbeth, Amonasro and Germont Pere. He has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, ROH Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, Paris Opera and Chicago Opera among others - 4 x 6 inches (10.5 x 15 cm) autographed photo. £18

Pablo Elvira - 1937-2000, Puerto Rican baritone: initially a gifted young pianist and violinist, he became a professional trumpeter after breaking his left arm three times, but then a singer after he met Spanish cellist and conductor Pablo Casals. In 1974 he made his New York City Opera debut as Germont, and his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1978 as Tonio; he sang over 100 performances there over 12 years, making his final appearance there as Rossini's Figaro, his signature role, in 1989  - 5 x 3 inches (12.5 x 7.5 cm)  autographed white card. £15

Geraint Evans - 1922-1992, British (Welsh) baritone; famous as Beckmesser, Dulcamara, Leporello, Falstaff and Wozzeck; the first post-WW2 British singer to become a major international star, singing Mozart's Figaro at La Scala Milan in 1960, and Falstaff at the Met in 1964. Robert Evett - 1874-1949, British tenor, actor and theatre-manager. He joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in the 1890s, playing Vazquez (The Chieftain), Box (Cox and Box), Hilarion (Princess Ida), Earnest Dumkopf (The Grand Duke), Alexis (The Sorcerer), Frederic (The Pirates of Penzance) and created the role of Yussuff in The Rose of Persia, later performing musical comedy, and managing Daly's Theatre then the Gaiety Theatre after the death of George Edwardes, saving the Edwardes' estate by his financial acumen - 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm) autographed postcard showing him as Lieut. Fritz Feinhals - 1869-1940, German bass-baritone; he studied in Italy before making his professional debut in 1895 at Essen as Silvio; he then intermittently performed in Munich for several decades, whilst playing roles in nearly all of the world's major opera houses. In 1898 he made his Covent Garden debut as Telramund, and sang at the Metropolitan Opera New York 1908-09 as Hans Sachs, Wotan, Don Giovanni, Amonasro and William Tell. In later life he lived in Munich and was a noted singing teacher -  autograph and musical phrase (from Wagner's Lohengrin) in black ink on 4.5 x 5.75 inches (11 x 14.5 cm) gatefold visiting card, so item has a horizontal crease where it folds. Dated "10 Juli '98". Condition: two glue-patches on reverse where item has been stuck into an album. £25

Linda Finnie - born 1952, British (Scottish) mezzo-soprano; she made her debut with Scottish Opera in 1976, where her roles included Praskovia in The Merry Widow. She has sung many times for English National Opera, particularly Verdi roles including Eboli in David Pountney's production of Don Carlos. Regular appearances at Bayreuth included Fricka, Siegrune and the Second Norn. She has made numerous recordings, most notably solos in Mendelsohn's Elijah, Mahler's 8th Symphony, Beethoven's 9th Symphony, and Elgar's Sea Pictures - 6 x 4 inches (15 x 10 cm) autographed photo, signed in very firm blue biro. £18

His lieder repertoire was vast, and he recorded virtually every German song in the baritone repertoire, particularly Schubert and Schumann, plus a huge number of operas and oratorios. As well as appearances at all of the major concert halls in the world, his operatic repertoire was huge, and in 1965 he made his Covent Garden debut as Mandryka in Arabella to huge acclaim. Renée Fleming - born 1959, American soprano. She made her professional debut at Salzberg in 1986 as Konstanze in Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail, and in 1991 she made her Metropolitan Opera debut as the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro; in 1995 her Desdemona (to Domingo's Otello) brought her the world's attention as one of the finest sopranos of her time . In the U.K. she made her Covent Garden debut as Dirce in Cherubini's Médée, returning in 2000 to sing the Marschallin, and her Glyndebourne debut was as Fiordiligi in 1992. Her Bayreuth debut was as Eva in 1996, and she has already made a huge number of recordings  - 4 x 6 inches (10 x 15 cm) autographed photo, nicely signed in fine blue sharpie pen. £30     

 

 

 

 

  

 

Catherine Ferguson - 1885-1972, British mezzo-soprano; she played Gilbert and Sullivan soubrette roles for the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company from 1918 to 1923, including Constance in The Sorcerer, Hebe in HMS Pinafore, Mad Margaret in Ruddigore, the title role in Iolanthe, both Lady Saphir and Lady Jane in Patience, Melissa in Princess Ida and both Pitti-Sing and Peep-Bo in The Mikado - 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm) autographed Parkslee postcard showing her as Phoebe in The Yeomen of the Guard, signed: "Yours sincerely, Catherine Ferguson". Alain Fondary - born 1932, French baritone; with a big, dark-timbred high baritone voice, he was well-suited to the Verdi and Verismo roles in which he specialised. He sang with all of the major French opera companies as well as at La Scala Milan, La Fenice, San Francisco Opera and Chicago Lyric Opera. At Covent Garden he was a superb Jack Rance in La Fanciulla del West, and he was a favourite at the Metropolitan Opera House where his frequent guest appearances included Alfio, Rigoletto, and the baritone roles in Samson et Dalilah and La Gioconda. His other notable roles included Posa, Scarpia and Macbeth - 4 x 6 inches (10 x 15 cm) autographed photo, nicely signed in black marker-pen. £20
